Memorial Weekend

I spent Memorial Weekend with Dan and his kids.
Friday night Dan and I went to The Cure concert.
I didn't know too many of the songs. Had I not met Dan I probably would have known about 2 or 3 songs. Since The Cure is his favorite I have listened to a few of their songs, so I probably knew maybe 6 or 7 songs! :) But he liked it a lot. It was fun to go and watch the drunk lady across the isle from us. She was more entertaining than the actual concert, I think. It was fun.
Saturday we took his kids on the "Thomas the Train" ride in Heber (aka Heber Creeper). That was also a lot of fun. The kids loved it and there were different things to do.
We road Thomas the Train...

Went through a Hay Bale Maze...

Went to a Petting Zoo...

And took a ride in a little one car train...

The kids had a lot that they could do and they were definitely worn out when we were done. I don't know if they were more worn out than I was though.
Monday we went to the Childrens Discovery Museum at the Gateway with my sister and her family. There is a TON of things the kids can do and learn that are fun and interactive.
I think with all of the different ages of kids they each had something that interested them (until the hunger kicked in). Then it was off to dinner at Chiles. YUM!

It was a busy weekend...But I had a great time. It was fun to spend the weekend with Dan and his kids and with my family! Loved it!

Bike Ride

So one morning Chellese, Estela and I planned to ride our bikes from our house down to the Provo River Trail and back. About 10 minutes into our ride, Estela notice she had a flat tire. We all had patch kits, but none of us had actually attached them to our bikes yet! :) So Chellese volunteered to ride back and get her tire patch/repair kit. She came back and they started trying to change the tire when she realized she forgot a spare tire.

So luckily she came back in her car (SUV thankgoodness), so we loaded Estelas bike and my bike into her car and went to her house. As we were loading the bikes in we realized that both of Estelas tires were flat.

We got back to Chellese's place and started changing tires (Chellese and Estella both took one) when we thought we better check the other two bikes for flats as well. Well come to find out...Chellese also had a flat tire. So guess what that meant!!! 3 flats...3 people! We all had the opportunity to change a flat tire. It was a great chance for us to get the hands on experience, just in case we need to do it in a race or something.

Here are a couple of pictures to show how much fun they were having... :)

I DID IT!!! Triathlon No. 1

So I did it! I completed my 1st Triathlon!! April 26, 2008!!
I can't believe I went from No swimming and No running to a Triathlon is 3+ months! If I can do it...You all can do it!

This one was a "Sprint" triathlon, which involves...3.1 mile run, 10 mile bike, and 350 meter swim. I definitely wasn't the fastest one on the course, but I did finish. This was a good practice for the big one I will be doing in Idaho the end of July. That one is a 1 mile swim (1600 meters), a 26 mile bike, and a 6 mile run!! I'm starting to panic. It might be hyperventalation, I'm not sure, but it happens every time I think about this. But, I am getting better.

It was a little different than in training. Running outside on the road is totally different than running on a treadmill. Same with the bike. I am so glad I did this one, just so I know what to expect.

This Triathlon was backwards from how they usually are. We started out with the run...

Then we went to the Bike ride...

And last, but not least...The Swim!

Then the best part of the whole Triathlon... THE FINISH LINE!!!

Then the three of us showed off our numbers.

What fun I have had training and getting in shape. Now I know where I need to improve and push myself that much more. Thanks Dan for the great pictures!!

Salem HERE WE COME!!!
