I was up in Heber this weekend for a Relief Society Retreat. Here are some of the pictures I took while I was up there. It's so pretty here in the fall! Enjoy!

Heber Valley Retreat!

"JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!"

Today, I just got back from the Heber Valley Camp where my ward Relief Society had an overnight retreat. It was a lot of fun! I drove up with Sue and Linda and they cracked me up the whole way. The traffic was stopped for a lot of the time, so I was greatful to have them with me. We left around 6:00pm and didn't get there until shortly after 7:00 pm.

As we got there they had "Doctors" greet us and give us our medication..."Aid-vil", with instructions to take two immediately! They then gave us a new patient form to fill out with all kinds of information they wanted. They then assigned us to a cabin. This way we wouldn't be stuck with the people we were already comfortable with, what fun would that be? Isn't it so much more fun to be in cabins with those you don't really know so you can sit up all night and talk and laugh and get to know them? Well...turns out we thought it was more fun!

We got there just in time for dinner...so we thought. Turns out the Host talked to us and by the time she was done we had to get on with the Guest Speaker, Sister Valentine. (She had other obligations to get to after, so we had to go then). Our theme was "Just what the doctor ordered" and she spoke on Health...Emotional, Spiritual, Physical... She did a very good job.

After Sister Valentine spoke we ate dinner! It was delicious!! Dutch Oven chicken with carrots, mushrooms, sauce, etc...it was really good. Salad, and Rolls also. It was so cold during dinner (to me anyway) that my fork was shaking as I was bringing it up to my mouth to eat. What was worse??? The bishopric...Two of them had on t-shirts and that's it!! Oh well.... Thin or warm??? But oh was it Beautiful!!!

After dinner was the best part! haha I was involved in a skit. I was Patient RS. I was very sick! (Da Da Da Daaa) I was diagnosed with the "allsaboutme syndrome". It was devestating to say the least.

I had to have immediate surgury.

Dr. FixIt, with the assistance of Nurse Nessy, performed the surgury. It was necessary to find what was causing this dreaded syndrome.

Come to find out... I had ...

Fear!

A Hard Heart!

Weak Knees!

And depression, despair, etc... (which was a black louffa (sp) that was removed from me). hahahha
Luckily they had the right things to replace in me... a dose of Courage for the fear. A "Soft Heart" for the hard heart. A "shot" of the Spirit for the depression.

Then she gave me the prescription to keep from getting this dreaded syndrome ever again! And luckily I came out of the surgury dressed in the "Whole Armor of God".

After the "surgury" we really just sat around in our cabins and "got to know" each other, then we sat up and talked until 12:30 or so anxiously awaiting our morning hike call at 7:00 am!

But the view was sure worth it. It wasn't a strenuous hike, or very long, but beautiful weather! We had short stops along the way to talk about Health. It was fun. Then we came back and ate Breakfast.

Then we had Service/Humanitarian projects to do quickly. Then 3 Workshops on Finances/Budgets, Diet/Nutrition, and Exercise. Those were all really good too. Then a short testimony meeting, then we all packed up, cleaned up, and went home! It turned out to be a VERY fun, educational and relaxing retreat!

Trip to Lake Powell

Lake Powell!.....HERE WE COME...I mean...ARE!!!!

At the end of August, I had the opportunity to go to Lake Powell with these three kids and their parents. I had a very good time there. Two and a half of the kids skiied and two of them Sky Skiied. It's so fun to watch them.

You can pick which is the "half". She would "ski" on the beach, but not behind the boat. Then, of course, there is always the thrill of watching Pam and John!

And of course! No pictures of Val! There's nothing good to see there... Just a bunch of crooked sitting on the Sky Ski is all. I was informed..."Val, there's something wrong with this picture". So I decided no pictures of Val this time! Anyway! It was a very fun trip!

Trip to New York

This has/will be an eventful summer for me as far as trips go.

I went to New York this July over the 24th of July holiday. That was my big trip *so far* this year. I won the trip (airfare only) from a "wager". I'd rather not say what the wager was about...haha...but none the less...I won.

I went with my friend Jeff. We flew into New Jersey and drove to upstate New York for the Hill Cumorah Pageant Saturday Night. Sunday, we went around and saw all of the Church History Sites, then drove up to Niagra Falls. We stayed (accidentally) in a hotel in Canada, which was a treat. Our rooms were upgraded without charge (we still don't know how that happened) to rooms with a view of the falls, which was very fun...and Beautiful!

Monday we did all of the Niagra Falls sites...Maid of the Mist boat tour, Jouney Behind The Falls tour, and we even got stopped by slow traffic on the bridge back to the USA, right at the divider line between Canada and USA.

We then drove back to New York City and spent 4 days there. We saw Ground Zero and took a walking tour (very cool). We went to the Top of The Rock (top of the Rockefeller Center -- No line, and better view (360 deg view) than the Empire State Building). We saw Les Miserables on Broadway. We also went to Central Park.

David Letterman... (ALMOST!!! they tricked us into standing in line with our numbers 6 & 7 stand-by tickets, but then wouldn't let us in! How rude).

We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge at night and ate at "the best Pizza in New York" under the Brooklyn Bridge. (Grimaldi's Pizzeria) That's what we were told, not what I'm saying.

We stood (and sometimes sat) in crowded Subways, and I even stayed in a Hostel! (Ok only for two nights, but still...). Overall it was a very fun trip!

I learned some things about myself...but most of all I learned that there is a difference in traveling and vacationing. And I like to vacation!!!!!
